The Mighty Warriors suffered a 2-0 defeat to Malawi in the first leg of their second-round Women’s Olympic Qualifier at Bingu National Stadium on Friday.

The Chawinga sisters scored in either half to give the hosts a two-goal advantage heading into the return leg.

Temwa Chawinga opened the scoring in the 34th minute before her sister Tabitha doubled Malawi’s lead three minutes into the second half.

Zimbabwe now face an uphill task in the second leg, which is scheduled for 13 October at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.

The Mighty Warriors will need to overturn the two-goal deficit on home soil to keep their hopes of progressing to the next round of the qualifiers alive.
